Sierra Madre is a recently listed junior mining company (TSX-V: SMG) based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Management has extensive exploration and mining expertise and the Company’s business model is to acquire advanced gold and silver projects and build shareholder value by rapidly advancing our projects through the resource delineation stage.
Based on the fact that Mexico is considered one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world the Company is initially targeting historic mining districts in the prolific Durango Silver Belt. Many of the mines in these historic districts were only mined to shallow depths and they represent exceptional exploration targets for modern mining companies. Companies like Argonaut Gold Mines (TSX: AR) Endeavor Silver (TSX-V: EDR)
and Mag Silver (TSX: MAG) that are actively exploring in the Durango Belt have generated excellent returns for early investors.
The company’s flagship property called “Penoles” is a joint venture agreement with Riverside Resources (TSX-V: RRI) whereby Sierra Madre can earn up to a 65% interest. The property hosts a partially defined bulk tonnage gold target known as El Capitan that may be amenable to heap leaching (believed to be similar to the Castillo deposit recently purchased by Agonaut Gold TSX: AR) and two historic silver mines that have never been drill tested (called Jesus Maria and San Rafael). Sierra Madre recently completed a $2,000,000 private placement to fund phase 1 drilling. Drilling is in progress with results expected throughout the remainder of 2012.
